Evidently, the man who is banging Angelina Jolie will be "appearing" next door to Hitchens in the same venue at the same time. So the question they're asking is, who will draw the larger crowd? Don't count Hitch out: he has a new fanbase of privileged businessmen, so you never know. Look:
Anglo-American author and Vanity Fair magazine writer Mr. Hitchens is the draw next Tuesday (his latest book is God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything). Among those expected to show up are oilmen Dick Bonnycastle and Jim Gray; BCE Development CEO Gordon Arnell; money man Ron Mathison; energy tycoon Murray Edwards; lawyer and Canada West Foundation presence Brian Felesky; David Asper, who is executive vice-president of CanWest Global Communications; former Alberta premier Peter Lougheed and former Liberal deputy prime minister Anne McClelland. Peter White, a former Hollinger executive who says he is now involved with land development and tourism, is one of the organizers of the Calgary series, along with the series' founders Rudyard Griffiths and Patrick Luciani.
Sounds like a nice little fascist party. I don't know if Brad can compete with all that. I mean, Peter Lougheed is gonna be there! Hitch, once a leftist hero, has become the English butler of the North American business roundtable. How does it feel, Hitch? |
